[S]Equilibrium Lab ’s Brand Design Information

20250314

Welcome to [S]Equilibrium Lab ([S]EL)’s Brand Guidelines. This resource provides clear guidance on our branding—including logo usage and other design language.

Logos: Text Logo

Our wordmark comes directly from the full name of the lab, which is an acronym for the three words [S]Equilibrium Lab. The “S” is realized in hollow form in the box, while the other letters appear in solid form. This symbolizes our exploration of the meaning of Structure in different contexts. The font for the entire text logo is Mi Sans™ with necessary variations.

Although its size is freely adjustable, its balance and proportions are fixed.  And based on the existing grid, each letter fits tightly on the set grid.

The entire logo will follow a 2.5:1 ratio

The current logo follows a strict grid system, although the letter S is variable in future designs.

Generally, the application scenario for this logo is square or round, just keep the logo centered when using it.

Although the gap between the logo and the edge is not yet defined, please do not place the logo too close to the edge, as this will invalidate the concept of “ Equilibrium ”.

For the Chinese fonts, the logo is still in Mi Sans. considering the different usage scenarios, the Chinese fonts will be rearranged according to the required size.

Considering the complexity of Chinese fonts, it is impossible to completely align the glyphs to the grid, so please try to control the way Chinese fonts are presented in the logo. Also, please note that for the two hollow Chinese fonts  “結構” , their left and right parts are different.

The idea of “structure” is emphasized.

When combined with the logo of the School of Architecture of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, or for official releases, the position of the [S]EL can be slightly changed to match other media requirements.

This application scenario needs to follow the requirements of the School of Architecture.
